That's definately Solenopsis xyloni, they've been flying all week around here; I caught four myself. The C. clarithorax colony is looking good, and appear to be eating a lot.

Those are beautiful pictures. The dots on the head are the ocelli, or simple eyes, that detect light and dark. Most workers don't have these, but queens and males do.

Solenopsis xyloni queens may end up fighting once they get workers. They tend to be a one queen per colony. I thought maybe there was the rare colony with multiple queens...but, not entirely sure. All...
